Krishna Dwara temple destroyed
A mob vandalized the Samadhi (Shrine) of a Hindu saint in the Karak district of Kohat division in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), confirmed by police officials. The Krishna Dwara temple is situated in Teri union council in Karak district were over a hundred people surrounded and vandalized the temple but the police were missing from the incident for hours.
“The incident had created a law and order situation in the area.” District Police Officer Karak Mr. Irfanullah said.
“The residents had issued a call for protest, but with the guarantee that they would remain peaceful. However, a cleric incited the crowd following which they proceeded to attack the shrine.” He added.
“The shrine’s keeper had secretly acquired a house next to the property. The protesters were against its construction because they assumed the shrine was being expanded. There are no Hindus in the area and it was the home of the single Samadhi.” The police officer explained.
Police controlled the situation despite a large number of protesters. An FIR lodged to take legal action against all the clerics who took the law into their hands but no one had been arrested so far.
Chief Minister of KP Mahmood Khan took notice of the incident and directed to take action against all the persons involved in this incident.
“Strongly condemn the burning of a Hindu temple by a mob in Karak Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. KP govt must ensure culprits brought to justice. MOHR also moving on this. We as a govt have a responsibility to ensure safety & security of all our citizens & their places of worship.” Shireen Mazari tweeted.
