Buenos Aires: Famous Argentine actress Silvina Luna passed away due to complications from plastic surgery.
According to foreign media, 43-year-old Silvina Luna spent the last 79 days of her life under medical treatment and on life support in a Buenos Aires hospital. On Thursday, doctors removed the ventilator with her family’s permission.
Silvina Luna experienced kidney failure after undergoing a butt lift surgery in 2011 and subsequently required dialysis three times a week. She first sought medical attention in 2015 for kidney stones. In addition to kidney issues, she suffered from seven other diseases caused by cosmetic surgery.
The actress’s plastic surgery was performed in 2011 by cosmetic surgeon Anibal Lutoki. Dr. Lutoki injected Silvina with a liquid containing polymethyl methacrylate, a substance banned by Argentina’s drug authority.
In 2016, Silvina traveled to Miami to consult with Argentine Dr. Cristian Perez, who removed the malignant substance from her buttocks. However, Silvina became immunocompromised due to the medications she took following her surgeries.
The Attorney General’s Office of Buenos Aires has initiated an investigation into Silvina’s death and ordered her body to be sent to the city morgue for an autopsy.
It’s worth noting that Silvina Luna’s death occurred just two weeks after TV host and fashion expert Mariano Caprola died from complications related to a 2010 butt lift surgery, also performed by Dr. Lutoki.
In February 2022, Dr. Lutoki was sentenced to four years in prison for medical malpractice in a case brought by Silvina Luna and three other women. In July, a court banned him from practicing medicine for five years. Dr. Lutoki has filed an appeal challenging his convictions, which is currently under review by the National Chamber of Criminal Appeals.
