The schools and other educational institutes are scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 11, 2022.
A meeting to discuss opening private schools and colleges took place on Friday, January 1, 2021, and the participants of the meeting expressed their displeasure over the behavior of the government due to their concern over the learning losses of students.
School opening in Pakistan
“Had a meeting today (01.01.2021) with RWP/Islamabad private schools association. They are obviously concerned about school closure. Told them that I am equally concerned. Hope infection rates go down so that we can open all educational institutions”. Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training Mr. Shafqat Mehmood tweeted.
“As Education Minister, I would very much like to reopen schools and all educational institutions as I am concerned about the learning losses, especially at the primary level. However, the final decision will be made on health grounds.” Minister said.
The inter-provincial Education Ministers conference will take place on Monday, January 4, 2022, regarding the school opening date among other discussions after analysis of the health situations in Punjab and decide when schools open.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Imran Khan on National Health Services in Pakistan, Dr. Faisal Sultan said that keeping in view the health situations in Pakistan, if we are able to control this deadly coronavirus’ second wave through effective decisions, we will reopen schools from Monday, January 11, 2022.
“The country’s schools are allowed to open in case we are able to successfully tackle the new variant of UK Covid-19 which is 70% deadlier than the previous one.” Planning minister Asad Umar said.

The decision to close down the schools and colleges was taken due to non-seriousness and non-compliance with coronavirus SOPs issued by the government of Pakistan.
“About 50 million students across Pakistan i.e. one-fourth of our total population which may become carriers. Their health cannot be taken lightly, that’s why it was necessary to shut down all Govt. & Primary schools, colleges, and other educational institutes.” Said Shafqat Mehmood.
Federal Minister for Education Mr. Shafqat Mehmood also suggested schools adopt an online mechanism.
In a press release, the joint action committee of private schools and colleges was demanded the government to open schools and other educational institutions on Monday, January 11, 2021.
